Bank of Scotland Foundation Trustee vacancies

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and driven individuals to join Bank of Scotland Foundation as Trustees. Trustees play a vital role, overseeing the management of the Foundation and acting as ambassadors for the Foundation across every sector of society.

For ten years, we've been Helping Scotland Prosper using an annual donation from Lloyds Banking Group. We're widely respected for the quality of our grant making and dedication to supporting small and medium sized charities. Through our Grants Programmes and a Matched Giving Programme for Lloyds Banking Group's colleagues in Scotland we've now distributed over £22m to over 2,200 charities - enabling over 800,000 people to benefit from a variety of much needed local services and personal support!

Our funding is distributed to Scotland's charities effectively and efficiently helping to support vulnerable people in some of Scotland's most deprived communities, addressing areas such as homelessness, debt management, reducing isolation and supporting job creation. In February 2021, our donation from Lloyds Banking Group was almost £5m!

We're seeking Trustees to join our Board and contribute to our ambitious five-year strategy "Supporting Positive Change Across Scotland" which sees a range of funding programmes available to charities demonstrating they address social exclusion or disadvantage. To execute the role successfully potential candidates should have a good knowledge of the issues facing local communities and be confident that they can make a valuable contribution to our work. As we look to enhance the diversity of our Board, our new Trustees will ideally have skills in one or more of the following areas Communications/PR, Equal Opportunities, Disability/Discrimination, Political/Parliamentary or Income Generation/Fundraising. Previous Board/Trustee experience is desirable but not essential and we encourage applications from all ages and backgrounds.

Trustees are appointed for an initial three-year period and meetings take place quarterly. The Board meeting commitment required is one day per quarter, plus reading and reviewing papers. In addition, occasional engagement activities also require participation from the Trustees, such as the Foundation's Annual Parliamentary Reception and charity visits to hear first-hand the real difference our funding is making. There is no remuneration for this work, however all necessary travel and accommodation expenses will be fully reimbursed.

We're an equal opportunity organisation and deeply value diversity within our organisation. We'll ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process.

It's been an extraordinary and challenging year due to the pandemic, but there is great potential for us to Help Scotland Recover and continue with our engaging and innovative work.
